SHAPES AND SHADOWS We wanted to animate this room with the quiet elegance of geometry and the simple play of light and shadow. Clean, luminous walls are achieved by eliminating decorative molding and by resurfacing the walls in a soft slate texture reminiscent of adobe. For the fireplace, mantle, and flue, bold geometric shapes stack to the ceiling, creating depth and height. Oak flooring adds contrast and natural warmth.    < 1/10 >
